DESCRIPTION
A group of Slave workers, drafted by the Nazis to help construct their coastal defences in 1944, are trapped in an underground bunker when the Allies land at Normandy on D-Day. They find huge stores of food, but not enough candles. The slow dying of the light parallels their increasing boredom, illness, and jealousy during their entrapment. A-Hu, who is born into a small family during an economic crisis. His mother works at recycling with her son A-Hu and his brothers until A-Hu leaves home. Although he has left, he keeps an eye on his mother in order to protect her from a group of people who bully her. During a fight with the bullies, he accidentally kills one and goes to jail. After being released from prison Ahu and his brother join forces with their brother in a gang.
